Silchar: At least three persons lost their lives while four others were injured after a vehicle collided head-on with a truck in Assam's Cachar district.

As per reports, the accident occurred at around 2 am in the Katigorah area of the district when the incident took place.

The vehicle was carrying personnel of the Jeevan Mission work.

"Three persons were killed on the spot. Four were injured and admitted to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital," PTI quoted a senior police official as saying.

On August 18, a road accident took place in Demow Maskara on the NH-37 road.

According to sources, a dumper (AS 04 BC 66 43) and a Swift car (AS 04 AB 6016) had a head-on collision in Demow Maskara, due to which Dhurba Jyoti Lahon, a resident of Demow Konwar Dehingia Gaon, who was driving the Swift car, was injured.

The Swift car was heading towards Demow.

The Demow Police reached the accident spot and sent the injured youth to Demow Model Hospital and seized both the vehicles.

Besides this, on August 15, Monuj Protim Bhuyan (27), son of Banshidhar Bhuyan of Kakojan Arandhara village in Teok police station under the Jorhat district, died on spot in a pathetic road accident that took place at Charing Gogoi Ali, 7 km away from Gaurisagar Police Station in the Sivasagar district.

According to the report, Monuj was travelling from Sivasagar towards home by riding his Pulsar bike bearing registration number AS 03 R 4139. Suddenly at Charing Gogoi Ali, an unidentified vehicle knocked down his Pulsar bike and he died on the spot.

In July this year, several passengers along with the driver were injured after a bus collided with a dumper truck at National Highway (NH) 37 in Assam's Golaghat district.

As per reports, the bus collided with the truck in the wee hours on Sunday, when it skidded off the road and rammed into the truck which was parked on the highway.

Following the collision, the bus which was heading towards Guwahati from the Tinsukia district, lost its control and plunged into a paddy field, and overturned.

The injured passengers were taken to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
